KMS students collect over $10K for Epilepsy Foundation
KALKASKA – Three Kalkaska Middle School students raised more than $10,000 for the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan as part of their eighth grade community project. Caleb Hicks, Hayden Moore and Jacob Wieling chose epilepsy as their project focus because one of their close friends has the neurological disorder.
Their community project included multiple layers of fundraising and promoting awareness throughout the month of November, which was Epilepsy Awareness Month.
“We sold T-shirts and bracelets, and at the end of the month we had a moms versus eighth grade basketball game,” said Hicks.
The basketball game was a highlight of the project.
