KPS appoints new board member to replace Sattler
KALKASKA – The Kalkaska Public Schools Board of Education welcomed a new member to its ranks during its regular meeting Monday, Aug. 14, appointing Stacey Hicks to fill the remainder of former board member Julie Sattler’s term in office.
Sattler recently announced her resignation from the KPS board, with board members voting to officially accept her resignation at their July 17 meeting.
It was the second time a member of the Sattler resigned from their duties at KPS over the last four months. John Sattler, Julie’s husband, finished up his eighth year at KPS in June, a tenure that included six years as assistant principal and two years as principal of KHS, where he succeeded former principal Dale Kasza.
John Sattler announced his resignation from his administration position in April after accepting an offer to serve as superintendent at Fairview Area Schools. He was slated to start his new post on July 1.
