KPS board agrees to contract with new superintendent

KALKASKA — Just two weeks before Superintendent Terry Starr steps down from his role as the top administrator, the Kalkaska Public Schools Board of Trustees agreed to a contract with his replacement at a special meeting Tuesday, June 15.
The school board voted unanimously to approve a three-year contract with Richard Heitmeyer to succeed Starr, who will end his three-year tenure at KPS effective June 30.
Heitmeyer’s contract is set to run from July 1 to June 30, 2024.
