ELK RAPIDS — The Elk Rapids girls soccer team ran over the competition last season, racking up 22 straight wins before losing a heartbreaking regional shootout.

Graduation claimed seven seniors, but experience runs deep in the Elks program.

This season the Elks return 10 players to varsity, eight of them starters. Senior Cailey Wagner, junior Heather Brothers and sophomores Kendall Brown and Kyla Pryde return for the Elks on defense, having given up just 11 goals total last year. Junior Clare Klein and sophomores Olivia Travis and Natalie Graf return to provide experience at the midfield, along with sophomore Maran Huggins, who plays several different spots. Junior Nikki Hayes begins her third season on varsity as an experienced forward who will provide the spark up top, according to Elk varsity soccer coach Andrea Krakow.

Sophomore Drew Antcliff will be in net full time this season, after splitting time in the position last year between varsity and JV.
