KALKASKA — While listening to the concerns of area residents and one of Kalkaska County’s largest employers, the Kalkaska Village Council voted, 6-1, to amend its medical marijuana ordinance to allow for the expansion of both provisional centers and retail licenses from five to eight at its regular meeting Monday.
The amendments will also allow for a retail license to be “co-located” within the same building as a provisioning center, within the requirements of state law, with the total number of storefronts in the village never to exceed eight at any given time.
Village President Harley Wales said he considers the changes a compromise, by allowing for the expanded number of licenses overall, but still limiting the number of storefronts.
