Long-time officer retires from Station No. 7; promotions announced

KALKASKA — At least one chair at the next meeting of Kalkaska Township Fire Department Station No. 7 will be empty.
That after Assistant Fire Chief Mike Fitch officially retired from the department on May 31 after 30 years of service.
Fire Chief Derek Hogerheide said the retirement occurred quickly, without any real ceremony to recognize Fitch’s three decades as a firefighter and departmental leader.
