Mancelona spoils Elk Rapids’ homecoming
ELK RAPIDS — It was homecoming night in Elk Rapids on Friday, but the game went to the Mancelona Ironmen as they trounced the Elks 46-6.
Playing most of the night in a rainy drizzle, the Ironmen kept to the ground rushing for a total of 264 yards to the Elks’ 62.
Justin Ackler had three first-half touchdowns, opening the scoring with a 6-yard run, and two scores in the second quarter with runs of 3 and 59 yards. Johnny Ancel added a 59-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, and combining with four successful two-point conversions gave the Ironmen a 32-0 halftime.
