No go
BELLAIRE – Facing a room full of constituents during its bi-monthly meeting last week Antrim County’s nine-member Board of Commissioners voted against the adoption of a proposed Second Amendment Sanctuary resolution and instead approved a resolution reaffirming their commitment to the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Those actions came after the Commissioners heard almost an hour of public comment both for and against the proposed sanctuary resolution, which proponents claim would have allowed law enforcement authorities the discretion not to enforce any firearms laws deemed “unconstitutional”, such as “red flag” laws.
Red flag laws, which allow firearms to be forcefully removed from anyone deemed unfit to be in possession of them, do not currently exist in Michigan but have recently been implemented in some states, such as Virginia, precipitating the creation of the sanctuary movement.
