KALKASKA — What was once a historical home in the Village of Kalkaska could soon be a park for local parents and their toddlers.
At the Kalkaska Village Council’s regular meeting June 14, village manager Scott Yost said village officials were moving closer to turning the property at 404 Cherry Street into the “Cherry Street Pocket Park.”
Earlier this year, the village council approved funds to raze the former home of Dr. Edgar Babcock, believed to be one of the earliest physicians to serve the area. And, Yost said the village recently received good news as far as the property’s future.
“We have found a donor to hopefully pay for, not only the demolition, but a portion of the new park also,” he said.
