One of the village's most popular events of the year, the annual Central Lake Car Show will once again be held on Saturday, June 8. The show is free for spectators and will include trophies, door prizes and live entertainment.

CENTRAL LAKE – Classic Chevys, Fords, Chryslers and more will once again line the streets of Central Lake during this year's sixth annual Central Lake Car Show, scheduled for Saturday, June 8.

"We'll have special categories for trucks, motorcycles and tractors," said show organizer Melissa Zelenak. "And once again, we'll have a ‘service vehicle’ category, with vehicles from the Antrim County Road Commission, Sheriff's Office, and other public service and safety agencies in the area."

The popular summer event, which officially kicks off the summer season in the village of Central Lake, will begin bright and early on Saturday with registration – for those who haven’t already pre-registered – at 8 a.m. and will continue through the day with food, fun and music by popular local musician Kenny Thompson.

Entry fees are reasonable, with a $10 fee for each vehicle registered prior to June 1, $20 per vehicle after June 1 through the day of the show.

A three-block section of Main Street (M-88) from State Street to the Chamber cabin near the Blue Pelican Inn – where vehicles will check-in and line up at Sage Park – will be closed to regular vehicle traffic for the show, which officially begins at 10 a.m. with a wide variety of roadsters, muscle cars, classics and hot rods expected to be on display.

Trophies will be presented to the top vehicles, as determined by head judge Dennis Byrd, classic vehicle specialist at Dave’s Collision and Car Repair in Bellaire. Door prizes will also once again be awarded to spectators.

“We wanted to keep it real simple and fun this year, so there won’t be anything complicated,” Zelenak said earlier this week.

Arts, crafts, food, and other activities will continue through the day. The show is free to all spectators.
