FIFE LAKE – Local residents will get one more go around to learn about the construction of a proposed roundabout at the intersection of US-131 and M-186 at an upcoming public meeting.

The Michigan Department of Transportation will be hosting an open house at the Dale H. Wheeler American Legion Post No. 219 from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, to discuss issues surrounding the upcoming construction project.

According to a release from MDOT, the open house is being held to provide an update on the final design and construction schedule of the proposed roundabout at the intersection that also serves as the gateway to downtown Fife Lake.

MDOT officials have stated that the Fife Lake roundabout will be a single-lane design, similar to the roundabout at the intersection of M-37 and M-115 in Mesick. While under construction, the project will reportedly require closing the Beacon & Bridge gas station driveway closest to the intersection. Other driveways will also be moved.

Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-April and be completed by late fall.
