BELLAIRE – During a recent presentation on Monday, June 11, several Antrim County Commissioners and school administrators heard about a new feature, soon to be implemented sinto the county's emergency alert systems.

Appropriately called a "panic button," the new feature enhances emergency response for schools, public buildings, businesses and other large campuses by instantly communicating an emergency message to all pertinent on-site personnel, staff, and security as well as to the local 911 dispatch, according to a representative with RAVE Mobile Safety.

"The panic button may make all the difference in the number of lives saved in, say, an active shooter situation or a fire," said Kevin Hatline, customer success manager for the company, who was asked to make the presentation by District 9 Commissioner Christian Marcus.

Antrim County already has the RAVE alert system installed through the county's Smart 911 program, which 90 percent of the county is now signed up for, Hatline said.
