Restaurants eager to re-open indoor dining
REGION — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's announcement last week that Michigan's restaurants could re-open to indoor dining, with restrictions, on Feb. 1 was a belated Christmas present for eateries in Antrim and Kalkaska counties, many of whom had been struggling for survival.
The restrictions mean restaurants will be operating indoors with, at most, 25 percent of the its normal capacity, seating no more than six people to a table, placing tables at least six feet apart, and observing a 10 p.m. curfew. The order, which also includes contact information requirements, will be reviewed by the state on Feb. 21.
Mike Nygren, owner of the Iron Skillet in Mancelona, said he and his staff were looking forward to offering indoor dining again — in any capacity.
