Sevenski seeks to drop conviction to a misdemeanor

ELMIRA – Antrim County bar owner Larry Sevenski will not serve any jail time for his July felony conviction on charges of resisting, obstructing and assaulting an officer.

The crime carries a possible six-month jail sentence but 13th Circuit Court Judge Thomas Power said last week that a hefty fine would serve as punishment enough for the 84-year-old businessman.

Sevenski was convicted of the charge on July 20 in Bellaire after a two-day jury trial stemming from an incident on the night of March 17, when Sevenski encountered two Michigan State Police officers near his establishment, Larry’s Seven Ski Bar and Grill, at the intersection of US-131 and M-32.
