Sheriff's department still critically short-staffed, Sheriff says
BELLAIRE — Although three new officers have been hired the Antrim County Sheriff's Office remains critically short-staffed, according to Antrim County Sheriff Dan Bean, the result of retirements and resignations.
Asked for an update on the Sheriff's Office, Bean told the Antrim County Board of Commissioners at the board's Aug. 5 meeting that he is still in need of at least six more road patrol deputies.
"One veteran of six years resigned due to what I'll refer to as burnout," Bean said. "She wanted holidays off and more time with her family. Our lead detective, Jim Janisse, retired after 30 years, and Sergeant Christine Chambers got remarried and started her own business."
