REGION — Forest Area’s Emily Norkowski became the school’s first multiple-medal winner at the girls track and field state finals when she earned all-state honors in two of her three events at Saturday’s Division 4 state meet at Baldwin Middle School in Hudsonville.
Norkowski was one of six individuals to reach an all-state level as Ellsworth’s Isaiah Romeyn and Josh Light finished among the top eight in events at the Division 4 meet, while Kalkaska’s Cole McKenzie and Elk Rapids’ Riley Williams also turned in top-eight performances at the Division 3 finals at Jenison.
Norkowski was the only two-event all-stater from the area, though. She finished fourth in the 300 hurdles in a time of 48.0 and was seventh in the 100 hurdles in a time of 16.98. She added a 15th-place finish in the high jump (4-7).
