Snowy spring weather the top sports story from 2018

REGION — There were plenty of great things that happened to the area’s athletes and teams on the fields and courts.

Thrilling wins, highlight worthy performances and championship level play were among the things we saw in athletics across Antrim and Kalkaska counties.

But the biggest story to come from the 2018 calendar year may have been what kept teams from taking the field and delayed the spring sports season. A late season winter storm this year wreaked havoc on baseball, softball, track and field, golf and soccer teams and made what is typically a short spring campaign even shorter for teams throughout the region.
