Starr leaving KPS for post in Shepherd
KALKASKA — Less than three years after he officially took the reins at Kalkaska Public Schools as the district's top administrator, Supt. Terry Starr has announced he will be leaving the local school district for a similar position further south.
Just a day after the KPS Board of Trustees regular meeting Monday, April 19, Starr confirmed he had agreed to a contract to become the next superintendent of Shepherd Public Schools, effective July 1.
Shepherd school board members voted 6-1 at a special meeting April 15, at which they conducted second interviews with Starr and one other finalist, to offer him the position.
“What attracts me to Shepherd are a number of comparisons to Kalkaska,” Starr said. “The two districts are similar in many ways, though, different in others.
