Townships of Antrim County considering fireworks ordinance

BELLAIRE — Antrim County's townships are being asked to consider approval of one of two proposed township fireworks ordinances. 

Always an issue during the summer months, the problem of fireworks and explosives being blown up at all hours of the day and night during the warmer months came to a head last summer, according to Antrim County Sheriff Dan Bean. 

"There was a young man over on Birch Lake Road in Elk Rapids Township who was blowing off very loud fireworks and explosives at all hours," Bean said. "That went on for weeks."
