Trojans capture semifinal win to advance to state final

CENTRAL LAKE — The Central Lake-Ellsworth football team is at the doorstep of a state championship.

The Trojans moved one victory away from winning their first football state title after topping Stephenson 54-20 on Saturday in an 8-man, Division 1 semifinal contest played in snowy and bone-chilling conditions at Herrick Field.

The Trojans (12-0) amassed 491 yards of total offense, with Grant Papineau rushing 30 times for 241 yards and five touchdowns, and Skyler Spangler rushing 25 times for 193 yards and two touchdowns.
