Two vote against hiring of new baseball coach

KALKASKA — Kalkaska High School has a new athletic director, at least temporarily, as well as a successor to its hall of fame varsity baseball coach, Bill Vandergriff.

The Kalkaska Public Schools Board of Education filled both positions at its regular monthly meeting on Monday, March 15.

Though, at least one of the hirings drew the ire of at least two board members.

John Rogers and Wendy Watson both cast dissenting votes in the hiring of Josh England as Vandergriff’s successor. 

England, a KHS graduate, has served as the JV baseball coach “for a number of years,” according to KPS Supt. Terry Starr.
