Villegas goes out with a bang to earn Player of the Year

REGION — Elusive. Electric. Exciting.

Those are just a few of the superlatives one could use to describe Elk Rapids senior receiver/defensive back Alex Villegas.

The four-year standout capped off a brilliant career with the Elks by helping to lead his team to a 7-2 regular season and runner up finish in the Northern Michigan Football League Leaders Division. Along the way he set school records for career receiving yards, career punt return yards, as well as single season marks for punt return and kick return yardage.

Villegas’ performance this season earns him the 2018 Antrim Kalkaska Review Player of the Year honor.
