Warriors suffer loss at the hands of undefeated Eagles
LAKE LEELANAU — The Forest Area girls basketball team had its hands full on Friday night when it took on undefeated Lake Leelanau St. Mary’s in non-conference action.
The Eagles showed their unblemished record was no fluke as they cruised to a 57-24 win over the Warriors.
St. Mary’s closed the first quarter on a 13-0 run to seize control of the game, and they never relinquished it from there. Forest Area had trouble with a tough St. Mary’s press, which caused turnovers and limited the Warriors’ chances offensively to set the tone. St. Mary’s also had a huge advantage on the boards, regularly getting extra opportunities on offensive rebounds, while also holding Forest Area to a number of single-shot possessions.
