KALKASKA – Local officials from a plethora of village and county agencies are working together to help make winter warmer for those in need. And, they’re doing it by not shaving.
KALKASKA – With all seven seats of the Kalkaska County Board of Commissioners up for grabs, the county board is certainly set for a makeover in the upcoming general election on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
REGION – Sunny skies, warm temperatures and a good economy meant lots of visitors and the sound of busy cash registers in businesses throughout Antrim and Kalkaska counties this past summer.
KALKASKA – For more than two decades, Pat “Pops” Modos and his wife, Pam, have hosted the Kalkaska Area Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited annual banquet and helped raise thousands of dollars in the process.
KALKASKA – The scouts of local Cub/Boy Scouts Troop No. 629 are helping make sure that the losses and heroism of Americans during the 9-11 attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and over the skies of Pennsylvania in 2001 are not forgotten.
BEAR LAKE TWP. – Maybe it was the big pieces of chicken smothered with barbeque sauce. Or, the kids games, train ride and bounce house. Or, maybe just a chance to sit down with your neighbors one last time before the fall season begins.
GARFIELD TWP. – Mother Nature couldn’t spoil the annual Garfield Community Pioneer Picnic, as dozens of local residents attended the event despite rain and cloudy skies on Saturday, Aug. 25.
KALKASKA – Every election has its share of surprises. That included Tuesday’s primary election, which ended with a veteran county commissioner and chairman of the Kalkaska County Board of Commissioner losing his seat.
