ALATEEN meetings in Kalkaska

ALATEEN is now holding meetings at 8 p.m. every Tuesday at the Kalkaska Senior Center, 303 Coral St. Alateen is a support group for those ages 12-18 whose lives have been affected by the alcohol or substance abuse of a loved one. There are three separate meetings held at the same time: AL-ANON, ALATEEN and AA. All are welcome to attend the meeting of their choice.

Fireworks at Schuss

Church to host Christmas Dinner

Christmas concerts

The Elk Lake Community Choir will hold its annual Christmas Concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 at First Presbyterian Church in Elk Rapids. At 7 p.m. that evening there will be another concert at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Traverse City, featuring both Bethlehem and Feast of Victory Lutheran Church choir members and bells.

‘Christmas for Little Elves’

The Kalkaska County Library will offer “Christmas for Little Elves” at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16. Cookies will be provided by Early Head Start, while music and stories will be performed and read by Lisa Delaney. Indoor ASI Market and Yard Sale

ASI Community Center & Park has extended its Farmers Market and Yard Sale through December. The events will be held on select Fridays, from 9 a.m. to noon (Dec. 15 and 22) inside the heated Community Center. All are invited to stop by and browse for holiday gift ideas. Approximately 18 vendors will be on hand each week in addition to ASI volunteers that will have the pole barns open for selling yard sale items.

Wooden Shoe Festival

The 12th annual Wooden Shoe Festival is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13 at the Banks Township Hall in Ellsworth. Enjoy fun with friends and neighbors. The event will include: Ceremonial Lighting of the Community Tree, caroling, a pizza dinner, cookies with “Grinch Punch” and a hot chocolate bar, “Make and Take” ornament session, Pine Lake Winds concert and a visit from “Twister Joe.”

ER Holiday Open House

The village of Elk Rapids will hold its Holiday Open House, Saturday, Dec. 9 from 5-8 p.m. The event will include a visit from Santa, his elves and reindeer; Frosty the Snowman; live musicians; caroling and more. The community tree lighting is planned for 5:30 p.m. Please bring a non-perishable food item to donate with Santa for the Community Cupboard.

Pancakes with Santa

A pancake breakfast will be held from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 at the Banks Township Hall. Enjoy a full breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice, milk and coffee. Choose a stuffed toy and take a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus compliments of Charlevoix State Bank.
