‘Magic Bob and Susie’

Churches to hold service and picnic

Put on your picnic clothes, bring a lawn chair and join local churches at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 24 for an outdoor service at Mancelona Rotary Park (US-131 and Mancelona Road-C38).
Sponsored by Alba and Mancelona United Methodist Churches, the service will feature Rain Song, an internationally recognized music ministry of Pastor Terry and Darlene Wildman. A picnic potluck will follow the service with table service and beverages provided. Rain or extreme heat location will be at Mancelona United Methodist Church, E. Hinman and US-131. ‘K’s for a Cure’ 5K walk and run

The fifth annual “K’s for a Cure” 5K walk and run will be held on Saturday, June 23 beginning at 9 a.m. The walk/run is part of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life event for Antrim and Charlevoix Counties and 100 percent of the entry fee will go to the Relay and American Cancer Society.

Nature Story Time

A Nature Story Time will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 22 at the Grass River Natural Area. All ages are welcome (best for ages 4 and up). Enjoy a short nature-themed children’s story and activity or hike. Organized groups are encouraged to call ahead. A donation of $5 per child is appreciated. Alden Strawberry Festival

Strawberry Shortcake Social

Kindness Rock Painting Party

Inspire Health Chiropractic and Wellness in downtown Bellaire (across from the theater) is hosting a Kindness Rock Painting Party from 3-6 p.m. Friday, June 15 to spread kindness throughout Bellaire. Attendees are encouraged to paint rocks with heartwarming statements, quotes, pictures, etc., and then scatter them around town to spread the love. All are welcome, and all supplies are provided.

Church to present teen choir, workshop

Bellaire’s Church in the Hills will present the Saviour Teen Choirs from Cincinnati, Ohio under the direction of Joe Galyon at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 12. Making their l7th summer tour, the choirs from Church of the Saviour United Methodist will present the worship concert “Extraordinary” based on John 10:10. The program features choral anthems, handbell pieces and dramatic sketches. A freewill offering will be collected. For more information, contact Dorothy at 231-331-6587.

Take a virtual road trip

The Friends of the Bellaire Library invite all to take a virtual road trip with author Ron Rademacher at 2 p.m. Monday, June 11 at the library. Rademacher’s presentation of “Nature Getaways” includes a slideshow of some of the most overlooked nature areas in Michigan. Easy, accessible trails and local attractions will be discussed. Books will be available for purchase.  This event is free and open to the public.
