Kids Fishing Day at Johnson Pond

The Village of Mancelona will host its annual Kids Fishing Day, beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 27 at Johnson Pond. Bring your fishing pole, bait and bucket and enjoy a free day of fishing. Baby Pantry Diaper Drive

The Antrim County Baby Pantry will continue celebrating the “Month of the Young Child” by holding its final April Diaper Drive event this week. Volunteers will be at Family Fare in Bellaire on Friday, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accept diapers and/or monetary donations.

Quality Thyme Garden Club

Easter Brunch at The Blue Pelican

The Blue Pelican Inn and Restaurant in Central Lake will again host its popular Easter Brunch on Sunday, April 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The menu will include: honey baked ham, carved top round, stuffed french toast, soup and salad bar, eggs Benedict and more! The festivities will also include an Easter Egg hunt for the kids. Cost is $25 a person, $22 for seniors and veterans and $14 for kids. Dance at the Senior Center

Sportsman’s club to host breakfast

Beginning Saturday, April 20 (and continuing every third Saturday from April through October), the Walton Junction Sportsman’s Club will host a Community Meal Breakfast from 7-11 a.m. The club is located at 11207 E County Line Road in Fife Lake. Cost is $7 for adults; $3 for kids under age 12 and free for those ages 5 and younger. Proceeds from the meals help the club raise brown trout for the Manistee River and provide other community programs.

Easter Week Services

First Congregational Church in Central Lake will begin its Easter/Passion Week events with a Maundy Thursday Seder meal at 6 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. service on Good Friday and 7 p.m. Tenebrae Service. The week will wrap up on Easter Sunday, April 21 with a 6 a.m. Sunrise Service in Thurston Park (at the boat launch), early service at 7:30 a.m., Easter Breakfast from 8:45-9:45 a.m. and Late Service at 10 a.m. All are welcome.

Sale to benefit wrestling program

The Antrim County Baby Pantry will celebrate the “Month of the Young Child” by holding its annual April Diaper Drive. Volunteers will be at Family Fare in Bellaire on Fridays, April 12 and 26 and Saturday, April 13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accept diapers and/or monetary donations. In 2018 the pantry distributed 44,640 diapers and 7,082 pull-ups.

Munson Hospice Support Group – Bellaire

UTLA potluck

The Upper Torch Lake Association will host its monthly potluck dinner on Monday, April 8 at the Torch Lake Township Community Services Building, 2355 US-31. All area residents are invited to attend. Bring a favorite beverage and a dish to share. For allergy purposes, chefs are asked to bring the list of ingredients for their dish. The social hour begins at 6 p.m. with dinner starting at 6:30 p.m.

Variety Show Fundraiser

A “Blast from the Past Variety Show Fundraiser” will be held Saturday, April 6 from 7-9 p.m. at the Kalkaska High School Auditorium. Along with community talent, the event will feature: the KHS Alumni Band and Jazz Band, Solo Ensemble performers, Folklore, along with a Rock and Blues Band.
A donation of $5 per person is suggested. Proceeds from the show will go toward the school’s band instrument repair fund and/or for the purchase of new instruments.

Craft show to benefit fire department

A craft show is planned for Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Garfield Township Fire Station 3, 358 Sharon Road SE in Fife Lake. The event, organized by the fire department auxiliary, will also include a bake sale and lunch. Proceeds will go to benefit the fire department.
