Chain O Lakes Auto Body and Keiser Collision and Auto Repair will be hosting a community appreciation cruise in on Wednesday, July 6 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Shine em up and show em off. Friends of the Central Lake District Library will be having a used book sale on Sunday and Monday, July 3 and 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 pm. Books are priced to sell at $1.00 each for hardbound or trade paperback books and mass market paperbacks at 4 for $1.00. Buy an entire bag of books, bags will be provided, for just $5.00.
July 3 at Thurston Park Amvets is sponsoring a beer tent from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. for the annual boat parade line up which starts at 6:30 p.m. First annual cornhole tournament starts at 3 p.m. Register on Scoreholio or day of event by 2 p.m. On July 4 the Veterans 5K starts at 9 a.m.
The Central Lake Victory4Veterans 5K is a new event that will start and end at the downtown pavilion in Central Lake located at 2530 N. Main St at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 4. Participants can choose to run or walk. Patriotic awards will be given to the first 3 winners in each age group. Cost is $40. All proceeds go to the Central Lake Veterans Center.
Central Lake Amvets will be having sunday breakfast the first Sunday of every month. The next breakfast in on Sunday, July 3. Pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, sausage gravy and biscuits, hash browns, toast, coffee and juice will be served. Cost is $10 per person, kids 5 and under eat for free.

On Sunday, June 26 from 5-7 p.m. the Kalkaska Senior Center will be having music at the gazebo, 303 S. Coral Street. This is free music for the community featuring Lou Thumsen singing your favorite classic country, folk rock and American songs. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy an evening in a park like setting. Concessions available from the BC Pizza truck.
The annual antique and cottage decor sale will be held at the Alden Depot on Saturday, June 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This sale is a fundraiser for the Helena Township Historical Society and provides funds to maintain the Alden Depot Museum. For more information contact 231-620-1445.
There will be a free fishing expo on Wednesday, June 29 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Elk Rapids Harbor Pavilion. There will be six master anglers at the expo to help people improve their fishing. This year the expo will be saluting/honoring our First Responders.
East Boardman Community Bible Baptist Church will be hosting a Strawberry Social on Friday, June 24 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The church will be serving up fresh strawberries, shortcake, ice cream, sandwiches, sloppy joes, cake and beverages. Inside is air conditioned and there is an outside pavilion. Also available will be bazaar items. The church is located at 2080 Boardman Road.
The Friends of the Elk Rapids District library will be hosting a meet and greet and book swap on Thursday, June 23 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Art & Connection, 965 Green Street in Elk Rapids. Make friends, meet the board and bring a book to swap. Light refreshments will be provided.
The Upper Torch Lake Association will host its monthly potluck dinner on Monday, June 20 at the Torch Lake Township Community Services Building, 2355 US 31. Bring a favorite beverage, dish to share or pack your own picnic. The social hour begins at 6 p.m. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m.
