The public is invited to Bee Well Meadery, 116 Bridge Street in Bellaire on Wednesday, May 21 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for author Christine Maul Rice’s reading of her collection of short stories. Maul will also be holding a poetry writing workshop at the Grass River Natural Area, 6500 Alden Highway in Bellaire on Thursday, May 22 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for writers of all levels (16 and older) who are interested in learning how to craft their stories into writing. There is no charge for either of these events.

The Antrim County Sheriff’s Department Victims Services Unit will meet on Monday, May 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Central Lake. The unit provides immediate on-scene support for any surviving, secondary victims of an unexpected death or serious trauma. A two person team of volunteers is available 24/7, 365 days a year. Initial training is given to all volunteers with additional ongoing training. All interested in joining the unit are welcome at the meetings.
