Join the Elk Rapids Area Historical Society for a guided walking tour of Maple Grove Cemetery on Sept. 26 beginning at 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. during the Elk Rapids Fall Festival.  Twelve intriguing gravesites will be featured.  Discover the lives behind the names.  Meet at the Maple Grove Cemetery on Elk Lake Road near US. 31.  Donations appreciated.  For more information visit:  elkrapidshistory.org.

Celebrate Dolly Parton’s music and literacy legacy! Wear pink, dress as Dolly, or add some sparkle, and cast your vote in our “What’s Your Dolly?” favorite-song-showdown. Lighthouse Missionary Church, 7824 Rogers Road, will host a series of free concerts at 7 p.m. The schedule includes: OJ Adkins on Sept. 19; Stephen Forester on Oct. 3; Glascos on Oct. 17; Jim Visser on Nov. 7; and Redeemed on Nov. 21. The public is invited to join the fun at Samels farm on Saturday, Sept. 12, for a Chili Supper and Barn Dance. The Samels Family Heritage Society is hosting the event, the Chili Supper featuring several delicious chilis, including a vegetarian option, cornbread, coleslaw, beverages, and desserts beginning at 5:30 p.m. Dancing begins at 6:30 p.m. led by the band Hammer’d. A dance caller will also provide instruction, so all ages are welcome to participate. Individuals are asked for a $5 donation and families $10 at the door.
