Chain of Lakes CROP Walk raises over $3,000 to fight hunger

The 2026 Chain of Lakes Crop Walk for Hunger is over, but the memories are still with me. Twenty-nine people from five churches — Rapid City Assembly of God, Alden United Methodist, Bellaire United Methodist, Church in the Hills and Community Church of Mt. Pleasant — wound their way from the Forest Home Township Building through Bellaire on Sept. 20th to bring attention to the needs of people facing hunger. The walk also helped raise over $3,000, with more than $1,200 coming from anonymous donations. Local food pantries will benefit from this money as well as people internationally.

The organizers of Crop Walk greatly appreciate everyone’s involvement: from the use of the building, the donated apples, to the many community members who generously dropped coins and bills in the cans at Village Markets. And we especially appreciate the enthusiastic walkers! How fortunate we are to live in this community!
