Kalkaska Celebrating 150 Year Anniversary
Starting Thursday thru Sunday, Aug. 4-7 Kalkaska will be celebrating its 150-year anniversary with several events happening throughout the week. There will be a history tent located on the lawn of the Kaliseum with local artifacts on loan from community families, townships and county agencies from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. There will be bus tours throughout downtown Kalkaska on Aug. 7, narrated by Dave Wolfe, who will point out and talk about buildings and homes of historic importance. There will be two bus tours leaving from the Kalkaska Senior Center/COA, 303 S. Coral Street at 1 and 2 p.m. Registration is required by calling 231-258-5030. Also on Aug. 7 will be a free community ice cream social at the senior center gazebo lawn (Cherry Street side) from 3-5 p.m., which will also display the 1971 and 1996 time capsule.
