Hunter Safety Field Day

The Chain O’Lakes Youth Shooting Organization will host a Hunter Safety Field Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15 at the Chain O’Lakes Sportsman’s Club, 840 Peterson Road in Mancelona. The free field day is open to students who have completed the required online hunter safety education course, which has a $29.95 DNR fee. Participants should bring eye and ear protection, sunscreen and a parent or guardian, as minors must be accompanied by an adult. Organizers said all firearms, ammunition and other equipment will be provided, and grilled lunch will be served. Registration is required through the organization’s website, www.colsc.org.
