A Chili Cook-off and Raffle is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 29 from 4-7 p.m. at the Helena Township Hall in Alden to benefit the Pet Crisis Center. Tickets are $12/adults, $5/children ages 5 to 12, and free for those 4 and younger. Tickets will be sold at the door only
Restaurants and chefs from Antrim County donate their chili for the fundraiser. All are invited judge their favorite and enjoy the all-you-can-eat dinner. A bake sale and raffle will also be offered.

The Central Lake Masonic Lodge will be running a Haunted House beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28 and Tuesday, Oct. 31. The Central Lake High School art class has decorated the lodge for Halloween, and all are invited to stop by. On Oct. 31 treats will be passed out as attendees leave the haunted house.
The Whitewater Emergency Services Auxiliary and Whitewater Township will hold its annual Community Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 5-8 p.m. This year’s party will be held at a different location due to renovations taking place at the fire station. The new location is the Township Park/Campground located at 9500 Park Road. The campground will be open for camping Oct. 26-28. Reservations at a reduced rate can be made through the reservation website.

All are invited to attend the Harvest Festival this Saturday, Oct. 28 from 5-7 p.m. at the Ellsworth Middle/High School. The Festival is a free, safe and fun indoor event for area kids and families. It will feature games, face painting, a fun photo booth, candy, donuts, hot dogs, pizza, popcorn and more. A bouncy house will also be available for the little ones.
The Central Lake DDA and The Central Lake Chamber will present its “Spook Spectacular” Halloween/Harvest Party Downtown Central Lake from 1-8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28. It will include a costume parade and contest, games, prizes, crafts, pumpkin decorating, refreshments and more. In addition, a golf cart parade/contest will take place from 4:30-5 p.m.

Drawings collected from the “Draw ER” event on Oct. 7 will be exhibited at the Up North Center from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, with light refreshments provided. Artists are invited to pick up their drawings after the event. The Up North Center is located at 103 First St. in Elk Rapids.
The Grass River Natural Area will host its final stewardship day of the year from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Oct. 21. Volunteers are needed to help prepare the trails and facilities for winter. The Central Lake Lioness Club will be celebrating 40 years of service with a special Open House, Sunday, Oct. 8, from 1-3 p.m. The club has chosen its 2017-18 donations and will be giving local recipients their checks at 2 p.m. during the event. The Village of Alden will celebrate Harvest Days on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7-8. Events scheduled Saturday will include: a pancake breakfast at the fire station, local artisans, farmers market at Tennis Court Park, a kids’ scavenger hunt and more. The Alden Depot Museum will also be open both days from 1-4 p.m. Sunday’s highlight will feature a vintage car show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The farmers market and local crafters/artisans will also continue.
