The “8th Annual Shanty 2 Short’s Run” will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11 beginning at Shanty Creek Resorts’ Lakeview Hotel. Same-day registration is available. Packet Pickup will be available at Shanty Creek on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 8-9:30 a.m.

Central Lake Masonic Lodge 426 is having its 23rd annual Flower Sale on Thursday, May 9 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), Friday and Saturday, May 10-11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lodge in downtown Central Lake. Hanging baskets and potted flowers will be available for sale. Proceeds of the event will go toward scholarships at Central Lake High School, local charities and building maintenance. The Open Door, a Christian coffee house located in the East Jordan Senior Center – Mill Street Campus (951 Mill St.) will hold free gospel concerts at 7 p.m. on the first and third Saturday of each month through December.
