The Torch Lake Grange hosts bingo at 7 p.m. every Tuesday at the Alden District Library. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Proceeds after prize payouts are donated to various organizations to benefit those in need.

The Central Lake Area Historical Society holds its regular monthly meeting on the fourth Tuesday of each month through November. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. at the museum, located at 2238 S. Main in Central Lake. Anyone interested in local history or the Society’s activities is invited to attend.

Twisted Fish Gallery in Elk Rapids will celebrate the Opening of “Poetic Abstraction,” the combined works of Rufus Snoddy and Pier Wright during a free reception at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23. The exhibit runs through Saturday, Sept. 14. Return for a night of prose and poetry as Rufus and Pier share their written art at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6. Each week enjoy a short children’s story and an activity or a hike on the trails at the Grass River Natural Area from 10-11:30 a.m. For young children ages 4 and up, but all ages are welcome. The Order of the Eastern Star of Bellaire is currently taking orders for the group’s annual Pastie Sale through Monday, Sept. 2. Pick-up days for the pasties will be Sept. 20 and 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bellaire Masonic Lodge.  The cost is $6 each. The fundraiser helps the Chapter continue to assist the community.
