The Antrim County Parkinson’s Support Group will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 at the Bellaire Family Health Center, 4955 M-88, in Bellaire. Meetings are now held on the third Thursday of each month. For more information, contact facilitator Linda Crain at 231-633-1237.
The first meeting to begin preparations for the 40th annual Ellsworth Pig Roast is being held on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 6 p.m. at the Town Hall. Anyone who has any ideas or complaints is asked to attend the first meeting to help get this summer’s Pig Roast, which will be held on June 19-20, get off to a unified start. Volunteers and help are needed.
“Living On: Loss of a Spouse” is a grief support program focusing on those who have lost a spouse or partner that provides an opportunity to learn and receive supportive guidance. The meetings are held at 1:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the Hospice of Michigan Office, 10850 E. Traverse Hwy., Ste. 1155 in Traverse City. Join Antrim Conservation District on Tuesday, Jan 14 at noon for a special Trail Tuesday hike at Coy Mountain. It is anticipated that there will be enough snow for snowshoes, so bring yours if you have them. This is a perfect time of year to hike Coy Mountain as the leaves are no longer on the trees, and there will likely be a nice view of Torch at the top.
The Upper Torch Lake Association will host its monthly potluck dinner on Monday, Jan. 13 at the Torch Lake Township Community Services Building, 2355 US-31. All area residents are invited to attend. Bring a favorite beverage and a dish to share. For allergy purposes, chefs are asked to bring the list of ingredients for their dish. The social hour begins at 6 p.m. with dinner starting at 6:30 p.m.
The Bellaire Winter Farmer and Artisan Market is being held on Friday, Jan. 10 from 9 a.m.-noon at the Antrim Conservation District at 4820 Stover Road in Bellaire. Sip on some warm coffee or tea and pick up goodies from local farmers and artisans.
Several blood drives are scheduled throughout the area. They include:

Winter Trails Day is being held on Saturday, Jan. 4 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Schuss Mountain Nordic Center. Trails Day offers children and adults new to Nordic snow sports the chance to try snowshoeing and cross country skiing for free, and to discover the great fitness and social benefits with these easy-to-learn sports. The Kalkaska Munson Hospice Support Group meets at 11 a.m. on first Friday of every month at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center’s Conference Room B, 419 S. Coral St. Join a friendly environment where grief and loss is understood. Share your story and learn from others. All are welcome and there is no registration needed.
