The Central Lake AmVets will be holding their monthly breakfasts the first Sunday of each month with the next one on Sunday, Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Veteran’s Center, 1840 S. Main St. in Central Lake. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, sausage gravy and biscuits, hash browns, toast, coffee and juice.
On Saturday, July 24 from 8 a.m. to noon the Kalkaska Conservation District will be holding a tire recycling collection at the Kalkaska County Recycle Center, 904 Island Lake Rd. The limit is 10 tires per household and is free of charge for Kalkaska County residents only. Proof of residency will be required.
The Open Door Christian Coffee House will be hosting gospel music on Saturday, July 17 at 7 p.m. Stephen Forester will be performing. Refreshments will be served for a small fee pizza and water will be available. The coffee house is located at 7824 Rogers Road, East Jordan. Everyone is welcome.
On Tuesday, July 20 at the Pelican’s Nest in Bellaire come and meet and greet with the ACD Board, staff and volunteers at 5 p.m. with a presentation at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $15 per person or $25 for a couple and includes a dinner basket and is payable at the door that evening. The Kalkaska Conservation District will hold a weeknight hike on Thursday, July 15 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Pickerel Lake State Forest Campground. This is a 2-1/2 to 3 mile out and back style hike through beautiful hardwood forests. For more information go to kalkaskaconservation.org/events/julyhike.
