The Alba Sportsman’s Club will be having breakfast from 7-11 a.m. and their monthly meeting at noon on Sunday, Oct. 10 at the sportsman’s club, located at 5225 County Road 620. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Some local churches in Bellaire, Alden, Mancelona and Rapid City are joining together to walk for hunger on Sunday, Sept. 26. Twenty-five percent of funds raised will go directly to food pantries in those communities. Meet at the Bellaire United Methodist Church across from Forest Home Township Hall at 1:45 p.m. The walk is gentle and will begin at 2 p.m.
Bellaire Public Library will be at the Halloween Dress Rehearsal at Richardi Park on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. giving out free books. From 11 a.m. to noon come to the library and paint a mini pumpkin and at 1 p.m. come and listen to author and seed library guru Bevin Cohen as he speaks about herbs, growing, harvesting and using herbs.
Inspire Health of Bellaire is hosting a Halloween Dress Rehearsal on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. at Richardi Park. This is a family fun run 1 mile/walk. The event is free and it is to bring families together. A trick or treating station will be available with healthy treats. Halloween outfits and dress up are encouraged but not required.
Church in the Hills in Bellaire will have its fall clothing giveaway at the Forest Home Township Hall on Saturday, Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting. In order to provide healthier conditions, it will be held in the parking lot. If the weather is bad, it will be postponed to a later date.
On Saturday, Sept. 18 beginning at 10 a.m. the Kalkaska Genealogical Society will host a beginning Genealogy seminar. Bring what basic information you have about your family members and the Genealogical Society will try to assist with filling the blanks. The Kalkaska Genealogical Society meetings on the third Saturday of each month at 10 a.m.
The Alden District Library and Friends will be having Mah Jongg every Tuesday from 1-4 p.m. starting on Tuesday, Sept. 14. People of all skill levels are invited to play. This event is free of charge and is sponsored by the Library and Friends. The library is located at the Helena Township Community Center, 8751 Helena Road.
The annual Cry Out America Prayer gathering will take place at the front entrance of the Kalkaska County Courthouse, 605 N. Birch St on Saturday, Sept. 11 at noon. Many of the community churches will be participating in this event as we gather to pray for the nation. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate with us in prayer.
