The Friends of the Kalkaska County Library will be holding a silent Art Auction from Monday, Aug. 1 through Thursday, Aug. 18. Amazing art from local creatives will be on display at the Kalkaska County Library during regular business. Bidding ends at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18. All proceeds of this fundraiser will benefit the new library building fund.

The Bellaire United Methodist Church will be having its Rocky Railway VBS starting Monday, August 1 through Thursday, August 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church located at 401 N. Bridge St. The vacation bible school is for kids entering Kindergarten through those who just finished fifth grade.
The annual Alden Run 5k run, 10k run and 2 mile walk will once again take place on Saturday, July 30. All three events start just east of the Community Center up the hill from town. Each distance follows a separate route, with all finishing in town on Smalley Street behind the methodist church. The two mile course for walkers is all paved roads and is stroller friendly.
The Alden Days Parade will be held in downtown Alden on Saturday, July 30 at 1 p.m. If you have a band, a float, trained dogs or other animals or if you can juggle or want to show off your classic vehicle please contact Fletcher Carter at 231-377-7297 to sign up.
The Alden Racquet Sports Committee (ARSC) is sponsoring a Pickleball Classic Tournament on Saturday, July 30 starting at 9 a.m. at the Tennis Court Park in Alden. Teams can register for the doubles competition in a single Open Division, including single gender and mixed gender teams of all ages.

Torch Area Artisans Guild (T.A.A.G.) will be holding their Quilt and Artisans Show with Boutique on Friday and Saturday, July 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days at the Helena Township Community Center in Alden. On exhibit will be quilts, needlework and paintings. The boutique will offer all handmade items by the members.
Protect the waters you love by joining the MI Paddle Stewards Invasive Species and Training Paddle Events for 2022. Join local conservation professionals in Northwest Michigan to learn how you can contribute to the work while you are out paddling and playing on the water. You can learn how to identify and report invasive species while preventing their spread.
The Upper Torch Lake Association (UTLA) will host the monthly potluck dinner on Monday, July 18 at the A-ga-ming Golf Course Pavilion located at 627 A-ga-ming Drive, Kewadin. Bring a favorite beverage, dish to share or pack your own picnic. For allergy purposes, chefs are asked to bring the list of ingredients in their dish.
The Antrim District Conservation will be holding a Household Hazardous Waste drop off event on Saturday, July 16 at the Bellaire High School Parking Lot from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Electronics and latex paint will be accepted for a small fee, cash or check please. Scrap tires can be dropped off for free this year. The high school is located at 204 W. Forest Home Avenue.
