The Kalkaska County American Legion Post 480 hosts Coffee & Donuts on the second Wednesday of each month at the Kalkaska County Senior Center from 9-11 a.m. The Senior Center is located at 303 S. Coral St., Kalkaska.
Saturday, Dec. 10 is the day to Stuff the Bus with Toys for Tots in Kalkaska. Sponsored by the Kalkaska Antrim Community Christmas program, Kalkaskas VFW and Kalkaska Area Transit, the effort is to help supply Toys for Tots in Kalkaska and Antrim Counties. New and unwrapped toys can be dropped off Dec. 10 at the VFW Hall on Hyde Street from 11:00 a.m.
The Kalkaska County MSU Extension will be having an open house on Thursday, Dec. 8 from 4-6 p.m. at 1900 Fairgrounds Road at the new office just inside of the Kalkaska Kaliseum. There will be giveaways, drink station and more.
Santa Claus is Coming to Town to Help From My Friends Pet Crisis Center on Friday, Dec. 2 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Kids, pets and families are welcome. $10 donation includes an edited emailed picture, cookies, hot cocoa and a candy cane. The Central Lake Chamber of Commerce is having its annual Window Night on Wednesday, Dec. 7 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Shopping is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and there will be sales at each location. At 5:30 p.m. Santa arrives and the tree lighting is at 5:30 p.m. At 5:45 p.m. Santa visits will begin at the pavilion and free gifts will be given out free courtesy of Bachmann’s.
Santa arrives at Clearwater Township’s Heritage Park in Rapid City on Sunday, Dec. 4 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a bonfire, hay rides, hotdogs and hot chocolate. Donations of cash, winter coats, hats, gloves and unopened toys for the event can be dropped off at Shear Shack, 8294 Rapid City Road, Rapid City.
The Bellaire Chamber of Commerce is having its annual Light Up The Night and Soup Cookoff on Saturday, Dec. 3 in downtown Bellaire. This event is all day with the Soup Cookoff starting at 4 p.m. outside local businesses in downtown Bellaire.
The Antrim County Sheriffs Department Victims Services Unit will meet on Monday, Nov. 28 at 5:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Central Lake. The unit provides immediate on-scene support for any surviving secondary victims of an unexpected death or serious trauma. A two-person team of volunteers is available 24/7, 365 days a year.
Alden’s Christmas Celebration will be on Saturday, Nov. 26 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown Alden between Nifty Things and Paradise Property. Santa arrives via fire truck at 5:30 p.m. and the Christmas tree lighting will follow. Visit and photo op with Santa. There will be treats for kids, hot cocoa and a toasty fire.
The Shop Small Business Saturday will be on Saturday, Nov. 26. Support your local businesses in Antrim and Kalkaska County. There will be sales and food and drinks at each location.
The Helena Township Historical Society and Alden Community Methodist Church are holding a craft and cookie decorating party and a vintage Nativity display on Saturday, Nov. 26 at the church from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. as part of Alden’s Christmas Celebration. Vintage family nativities will be shared with visitors along with their histories.
Kalkaska Farmers Market will be hosting the final Farmer’s Market of the year on Dec. 20, at the Railroad Square Pavilion in Kalkaska, with seasonal carols performed by Matt Minikus 2-6pm.

The Friends of the Kalkaska County Library will be hosting its annual Holiday Cookie Sale on Thursday, Dec. 15 and Friday, Dec. 16 during library hours. If you would like to contribute cookies or other holiday treats for this very popular fundraiser, we are asking all treat donators to prepackage their delicacies two per package.

The Antrim County Community Choir’s holiday concert “Joyful Gifts” will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4 at the Bellaire High School’s Performing Arts Center. They will be joined by special guests, including the current scholarship winner. A freewill offering will be taken to support the Susie Hutchings Memorial Music Scholarship.
