The Kalkaska Conservation District is planning a weeknight hike on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 5:30 p.m. Meet at the South Boardman Nature Preserve, Butler Road in South Boardman and look for Conservation District Event signs. This will be a quick hike, at only one mile of trail, out and back style. We’ll hike by snowshoes or xc ski depending on the trail conditions.
There will be a taco bar and silent auction fundraiser on Sunday, Jan. 29 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the Stephens family who lost their house to a fire back in November. It will be held at the Pelican Nest, 5085 Shanty Creek Road, Bellaire.

Jackpot Bingo is played every Saturday evening at the American Legion Hall, 9850 S. Front Street in Mancelona. Doors open at 4 p.m. and Bingo begins at 6 p.m. Everyone who is at least 18 years old is welcome. For more information contact 231-499-2364.
Grass River Natural Area will be hosting a free online Winter Tracking Zoom class on Wednesday, Feb. 1. Learn the art and science of tracking animals, with snow providing a great medium for preserving tracks at Grass River Natural Area (GRNA).

The Kalkaska Winterfest will take place, snow conditions permitting on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 28 and 29. Sled dog races, dog weight pulls, fun run, craft show, silent auction, concessions and more are offered over the two day event. Sled dog races will kick off the event both days with different events starting every hour throughout the day.
The Antrim County Sheriffs Department Victims Services Unit will meet on Monday, Jan. 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Central Lake. The unit provides immediate on-scene support for any surviving secondary victims of an unexpected death or serious trauma. A two-person team of volunteers is available 24/7, 365 days a year.
