Lunch on the Clock is on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 12 p.m. at the Mancelona Township Offices. This event is for socializing and networking opportunities and is hosted by the Mancelona Chamber of Commerce. The Alden District Library is having a Book Sale on Saturday, Aug. 31 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Available items for sale are books, audio books, DVDs, music CDs and puzzles. Proceeds will benefit Enrichment Programs for adults and children. The sale is held at the Helena Township Community Center, 8751 Helena Road and is sponsored by the Friends  of the Alden District Library. For more information contact 231-331-4318.

The Bellaire Masonic Lodge will be having a pancake breakfast on Saturday, Aug. 31 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the lodge, 4905 Stover Road in Bellaire. Cost is $10 per plate and includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, coffee and orange juice.

The final household hazardous waste drop off event of 2024 hosted by the Antrim Conservation District will be held on Saturday, Aug. 31 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Antrim County Road Commission facility located at 319 E. Lincoln Street in Mancelona. Antrim County residents can bring unwanted or used household products that are toxic, ignitable, corrosive or reactive for responsible handling and disposal. Clean automotive tires will also be collected free of charge, up to ten pounds per household (no commercial drop offs).

Kalkaska Genealogical Society Field Trip

In place of the regulary scheduled meeting on Monday, Aug. 19 members of the Kalkaska Genealogical Society will be touring the Kalkaska Historical Museum beginning at 3 p.m. Artifacts at the museum are all a part of Kalkaska history. Much information is available regarding people, places, dates, businesses, schools, churches, clubs, local government, industries, early exports and pioneer days. The Kalkaska Historical Museum is located in the Train Depot building in downtown Kalkaska behind the fish fountain.

Ice Cream Social

The Bellaire Rotary Club will be having an ice cream social on Saturday, Aug. 17 at Richardi Park in Bellaire immediately after the Rubber Ducky parade. Musical performance will be Jelly Roll Blues Band from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Donations will be appreciated.
