NMC Snakes: The Evolutionary Masters of the North

Antrim County Animal Control Yard Sale

Friday, September 20, 2024 - 11:00am to Saturday, September 21, 2024 - 3:00pm

The Antrim County Animal Control will be having a yard sale on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20 and 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the animal shelter in Bellaire. Cash only will be taken. All proceeds will be used for TNR (trap, neuter, return) of stray/feral cats. Gently used items can be donated to the shelter for them to sell at the yard sale through Wednesday, Sept. 18.
 

Friends of the Library Monthly Meeting

NMC Fall Kayak River Tour

NMC will have a fall kayak river tour on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 9:30 a.m. There is no better way to experience a northern Michigan river than by paddling its calm waters and enjoying its unique wildlife. On this guided tour, students will explore Grass River by kayak and find out about Grass River Natural Area’s conservation efforts, wetland ecology and Michigan wildlife. DKG Phi Chapter to Meet

Weekly Invasive Species Pull

Grass River Natural Area has a weekly invasive species pull every Monday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Join us by volunteering on our weekly invasive species pulls. You will be assisting Conservation Director, Sean Callahan, identify, remove and dispose of them. We travel to a variety of places across the natural area, from right near the trails to deep in the woods. Training is required with one hour sessions. Email sean@grassriver.org to join.

Barn Dance & Chili Supper

There will be a barn dance and chili supper on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for dinner and 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for dancing to the music of Hammer’D with Dance caller and lessons. This event will be held at Samels Farm, 8298 Skegemog Point Road in Williamsburg. All ages are welcome. Cost is $5 for individuals or $10 for family donation appreciated for supper and dance. This dinner and dance is hosted by the Samels Family Heritage Society.

Swiss Steak Dinner To Go

The Central Lake United Methodist Church is having their Swiss Steak Dinner To Go on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. or until gone. When you arrive outside on Saturday call 231-350-2771 and they will run your dinners to your car. They will only serve drive up orders after pre-orders are filled.

Helmsmen Gospel Concert

The Front Porch Ministries is celebrating its 16th Anniversary on Friday, Sept. 13 and will be having the Helmsmen Gospel Concert in the Village Square in Ellsworth at 7 p.m. In case of rain the concert will be moved to the Banks Township Hall on the upper level. Everyone is asked to bring a lawn chair. Snacks and beverages will be available and will be a free will offering concert.

 

9-11 Memorial Service

The Kalkaska County American Legion Post 480 hosts coffee and donuts on the second Wednesday of each month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Kalkaska County Senior Center. On Wednesday, Sept. 11 members of the health care management team at KMHC will present information about nutrition, diabetes and staying active. Not signed up for VA health care benefits? The Kalkaska County Veterans Affairs Director will be on site to answer questions and assist with enrollment.
