Every Friday at 10:30 a.m., Miss Marta will lead the kids in 30 minutes of kid-friendly stories, movement, music, and crafts. Activities are designed for children from birth through kindergarten. Parent or guardian attendance is required.
On the first and third Friday of every month, an additional 5toOne playgroup will also be included.

Forestry for MI Birds

Join the Kalkaska Conservation District, Kalkaska County Library, and American Bird Conservancy for an informative workshop on Forestry for Michigan Birds!
Meet at the Coldsprings Branch Library located at the Coldsprings Township Hall, 6515 County Road 571 NE, Mancelona, on Jan. 30 at 4 p.m. to learn all about how to enhance bird habitats.

Victims Services Unit

Monday, January 27, 2025 - 5:30pm

The Antrim County Sheriff’s Department Victims Services Unit will meet on Monday, Jan. 27 at 5:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Central Lake. The unit provides immediate on scene support for any surviving, secondary victims of an unexpected death or serious trauma. A two-person team of volunteers is available 24/7, 365 days a year. Initial training is given to all volunteers with additional ongoing training. Victim services advocates are caring, compassionate volunteers who are recruited from the community. All those interested in joining are welcome to the meetings.

Family Game Night

Fresh Start Wesleyan Church will be hosting Family Game Night on Friday, Jan. 24 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Family games for all ages, refreshments will be provided. Please come and join us at Fresh Start Wesleyan Church, located at 108 E. Cayuga Street in Bellaire.
 

NMC Winter Tree Identification

On Friday, Jan. 31 join Grass River Natural Area for NMC Winter Tree Identification. Gain the skills to identify Michigan trees in winter by their bark, buds and branching patterns. We will use a variety of real specimens collected from Grass River Natural Area along with photographs and guides to learn ID techniques for woody plants. This class is from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at NMC.

Monthly Meeting

The Kalkaska Friends of the Library Jan. monthly meeting will be held at the library at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28. Everyone is invited. All monthly meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month.

 

Nature Trivia Night

Join Grass River Natural Area for Nature Trivia Night on Thursday, Jan. 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Short’s Pull Barn in Elk Rapids. Get your team of two or six players together and get ready to stretch your brain with five rounds of clever, family friendly trivia. Don’t worry if you are not a nature expert, questions will draw from other areas of knowledge like movies and music. Cost is $5 per player and will pay upon arriving at Short’s.
 

Artificial Intelligence Session

The Bellaire Public Library is offering a session on artificial intelligence; how to use it and how to detect it, followed by a Q & A session. This is hosted by tech specialist Gabe. Diabetes Undone

Join us on Monday, Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. at the Central Lake Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2424 Green Street in Central Lake for Diabetes Undone. This is eight sessions that will be run weekly on Mondays through February 12. One in three Americans has diabetes or prediabetes. That doesn’t have to be your story. There will be a free participant kit that includes inspiring wellness talks, expert advice, group support, cooking demos, diabetes undone workbook, diabetes undone cookbook, eight laws of health DVD and access to the video course. Market Livestock Project Review Meeting

Spaghetti Fund Raiser

Spaghetti Fund Raiser Stan’s Clan Celebration, Thursday, Jan. 16, 5 to 7 p.m. in the Bellaire High School Commons Area.  Adults $8, Seniors $6, Child $5 and Family $25. Help celebrate Stan Sexton and the creation of the Stan Sexton Award of Excellence and Scholarship.

 

Remembering the Past

Start the year remembering the past. Join the Bellaire Area Historical Society today on Thursday, Jan. 16 at the library at 4 p.m. for our Family History group. We are gathering local family histories for the museum archives, planning and preparing a museum display and ultimately a book. All are encouraged to come.
