Shanty Creek Freedom Fest

Shanty Creek Resorts will host Freedom Fest, beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 3 at Summit Mountain. A Community Paddle will be held Monday, July 1 from 7-8:30 p.m. beginning at the Bradford Street Boat Launch (7854 Bradford, just south of the Thurston Park Campground). The event is free, and no pre-registration is required. All paddlers must bring their own craft/boat, paddle, and pfd (life jacket). Rotary Chicken Barbecue

Movies begin at dusk (weather permitting) and will be shown in Sage Park, across from Fudgees.

A sloppy joe dinner, with side dishes and desserts, will be held on Saturday, June 22 at VFW Post 8684, 408 Hyde St. in Kalkaska starting at 4 p.m. ($7 suggested donation). Mancelona ‘Bike & Book Bash’

A free “Bike & Book Bash” for ages 4-12 will take place Saturday, June 22 from noon to 4 p.m. at Cran Park in Mancelona. The event will include books and a book bag giveaway, bike safety course, labyrinth walk and treasure hunt with prizes, healthy snacks, a raffle for a boy’s and girl’s bike (must be present to win), bike helmet fitting and more. Held rain or shine (except for severe weather), participants must be accompanied by an adult and sign a waiver. Rock for Rotary

The Rotary Club of Elk Rapids is sponsoring a Rock-A-Thon on Saturday, June 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Village Market parking lot on Ames Street, as well as a second location at the corner of River and Cedar streets in downtown Elk Rapids. Rotarians and friends will be “Rocking” to raise money for its Rotary Good Works Fund, which supports a number of area organizations. Those who cannot attend but wish to contribute can sponsor a “Rocker” with a pledge of any amount, or be an official Rocker Sponsor for any pledge of $100 or more.

Club to hold golf scramble

The Antrim County Snowmobile Club will hold its 21st annual golf scramble on Saturday, June 15 at the Deer Run Golf Course in Lakes of the North. Registration with coffee and donuts is scheduled for 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Prizes will be given for first-, second- and third-place, along with a skins game, raffles and many additional door prizes will be given away. Proceeds will benefit Special Olympics, Wertz Warriors, local food pantries and Pink Ribbon Riders for Breast Cancer.

The 39th annual Ellsworth Pig Roast will be held Friday and Saturday, June 14-15.
