Grass River Natural Area accessible boardwalk is open
Grass River Natural Area marked the completion of its nearly decade-long, $3 million boardwalk reconstruction project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept. 11. The project includes more than 1.25 miles of level, raised wooden boardwalks designed to improve access to the natural area’s wetlands and other ecosystems.
BELLAIRE — Grass River Natural Area has completed a nearly decade-long, $3 million reconstruction of its raised wooden boardwalk system.
The project was marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 11, followed by a community open house on Sept. 12.
About 50 people attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which included remarks from Grass River Natural Area Executive Director Jenn Wright, Antrim County Administrator Jeremy Scott, and Charamy Cleary, recreation grants coordinator with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Following the ceremony, attendees toured the reconstructed boardwalks.
