The Antrim County Commission on Aging and the AARP are sponsoring free in-person preparation of Federal and State income tax returns. All returns are electronically filed after being prepared and checked by volunteers who have completed IRS training and testing and are certified. The Bellaire Area Historical Society meets every third Thursday of the month at the Bellaire Public Library for a Family History Project 4 p.m. We are gathering local family histories for the museum archives, planning and preparing a museum display and ultimately a book. All are encouraged to come.
The Bellaire Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours will be on Thursday, Feb. 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will be hosted by The Julia Pietrowicz Team and Mammoth. The Antrim County Sheriffs Department Victims Services Unit will meet on Monday, Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Central Lake. The unit provides immediate, on-scene support for any surviving, secondary victims of an unexpected death or serious trauma. A two-person team of volunteers is available 24/7, 365 a year. Initial training is given to all volunteers, with additional ongoing training. All those interested in joining are welcome to meetings. There will be a warm campfire at the center pavilion and the heated building will be open and staffed. Come anytime during the two hour open house style event. Bring a flashlight or headlamp. Skis and snowshoes for all ages are available for rent at the center for an additional $5.
